XVI edition of Guitar Competition ended

    The Sixteenth International Classical Guitar Competition "Academician Marin Goleminov" was held in Bratstvo 1869 Community Centre, Kyustendil from 4 to 7 April 2012. The culture forum was officially opened at 6. pm, on 4 April, 2012 in the hall of the Municipal Theatre, Kyustendil. Majorette troupe from Plovdiv, Bulgaria, Gisle Krogseth from Norway, Uros Dojcinovich from Serbia, Stela Dinkova, Nelly Nedeva, Sevdalin Stefanov from Bulgaria and many more participated in the opening concert of the event.

    A record number of guitarists from Bulgaria, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Ukraine, Poland, England etc. took part in the competition. During the festival days a lot of cultural events were organized. Youth exhibition of the networks Europe Direct, Youth Information and Counselling Centres and Eurodesk was held. Lectures and concerts were given by Odessa Guitar Quartet, Duo "Crescendo", Serbia, Duo Valentin Valchev and Milena Valcheva, Yavor Genov, Ognayan Valev, rock groups from
Bulgaria etc.
    This year the jury consisted of three committees, led by Prof. Dr Panayot Panayotov, Associated Professor Stella Dinkova and Nelly Nedeva.
    Along with cash prizes and scholarships, provided by the Municipality of Kyustendil and the Bulgarian Ministry of Culture, a lot of other prizes were awarded by the European Commission, "Savarez" - France and organizations from Kyustendil. All the participants received informational materials from Europe Direct - Kyustendil. The competition was attended by the Regional Governor of Kyustendil - Mr Vladimir Stoykov, the Mayor of the Municipality of Kyustendil - Mr Petar Paunov, Mrs Silva Hacherian - Head of Department "Regional Activities", Ministry of Culture, Mr Stefan Iliev - Ministry of Culture, Plamen Georgiev - National Centre "European Youth Programmes and Initiatives", The Ministry of Education, Youth and Science.
    Marchin Kozyol from Poland won the Grand Prix of the Competition. The representatives of the Kyustendil guitar school were also among the winners of the competition.
